Outdoor living

The best room in the house is outside.

Custom outdoor living spaces with patios, fire pits, outdoor kitchens and seating areas, designed around the way you like to spend an evening.

Patios

A patio is the floor of an outdoor room, so size it like one. Allow space for the table with its chairs pulled out, a clear path past it, and somewhere for the grill that won't send smoke through the seating.

Natural stone, brick and concrete each age differently. Stone and brick weather into the landscape; concrete can be stamped, colored or kept smooth and modern.

Outdoor kitchens

An outdoor kitchen works best close enough to the house that carrying plates is easy, with counter space on both sides of the grill and somewhere to set things down.

Countertops outdoors take sun, heat and spills. Dense stone, sealed concrete and tile hold up; whatever the material, it should shed water and be easy to wipe down.

Services

Fire pits & fireplaces

A fire pit gives a patio a center. Leave enough room around it for chairs to push back, and keep it well away from the house, fences, overhanging branches and the pergola.

Gas fire features light at a switch and leave no ash; wood fires give the crackle and the smell. Either way, plan the location and the seating together.
